MR ROOSEVELT REBUKED NEW YORK, November 17. President Roosevelt has been asked to apologise for “shocking profanity.” While he was using the voting machine on November 7 during the Presidential election the machine jammed. “From the voting booth came the clank of gears and a lever being jerked irritably back and forth,” says a “Times” account of the incident. “Then a voice familiar to the world exclaimed from behind the curtains, ‘The God-damned thing won’t work.’ ” The Californian Ministerial Association insists that the President make amends.
