ST. JOHN’S CHURCH

JUBILEE PROGRAMME

A meeting of the Jubilee Committee was held last evening, to finalise details in connection with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of St. John’s Church. Rev. T. G. Campbell presided. A reception will be given visiting Presbyterians, to which the Mayor and Mayoress would be invited, also ministers of various churches. Rev J. Thomson (Invercargill) has been invited to preach at the morning service (Communion, Sunday, March 11) and Rev. H. R. Fell (Wellington) had agreed to conduct the evening service. In regard to the object of a larger platform, new Communion table and 12 chairs, it was reported that 10 elders’ chairs and baptismal font" had been given, and a small sum was in hand for alterations. As the present Communion table had been dedicated as a gift from a former elder it was decided to incorporate its timber in the nev r table. It was explained that the Jubilee booklet would be published in January. n was agreed that a re-union banquet be held in St. John’s Hall A.n oldtime combined Presbyterian picnic would be held on Saturday. March 17, at Omoto, On Sunday, March 18, the morning service would be by church youth, and the evening service by Rev. T .G. Campbell.
