Mr. and Mrs. O. McLean returned yesterday from Christchurch. '

Mrs D. Syme, Christchurch, arrived last evening, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs R. t Armstrong, Runanga.

Archdeacon D. Haultain will arrive in Greymouth to-morrow evening from Blenheim.

Mr. J. M. McNulty returned yesterday from Wellington, where he attended a meeting of the Dominion Council of Sport.

Mr. W. C. Bell, formerly of Tolaga Bay, who has recently returned from overseas service, has commenced duty on the staff of the Greymouth Telephone Exchange.

The Gazette notifies the reappointment of Mr. W. E. Hale as a member of the Meat Producers’ Board, representing dairy producers. —P.A.

The Mayor of Greymouth, Mr. F. A. Kitchingham, will leave on Monday next for Timaru to attend the annual conference of delegates to the South Island Local Bodies’ Association.

Lieutenant-Colonel D. H. W. H. Donaldson, New Zealand Staff Corps, has relinquished his appointment of camp commandant, prisoner of war camp, and is appointed area commander, Hamilton, according to the Gazette.—P.A.

Mr. A. F. M. Coxon, who has been headmaster of the Wataroa School for the last two years and a half, has resigned from the teaching profession, and will leave Wataroa at the end of the present term to take up residence at Dunedin.

The death occurred in Christchurch, on Wednesday, of Mr. Robert George Ecclesfield, aged 71, formerly of Hokitika. Born at Hokitika, he was for a time in charge of the Customs Department there before being transferred to Christchurch where he retired.

The death occurred at Westport, yesterday, after a lengthy illness, of Mr. Christopher Curtain. He was born at Westbrook, Kumara, 66 years ago, but had resided in the Buller district for 25 years. He is survived by his wife and one son, both of Auckland, eleven sisters and one brother.
