LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
DISTRICT NOMINATIONS GREYMOUTH CANDIDATES When nominations closed at noon to-day for the election of members of local bodies in the Grey mouth Borough it was disclosed that theie will be elections in every case except that of the Greymouth Mayoialty, for which Mr. F. A. Kitclnngham, who has been Mayor lor the past two terms, was the only nominee, and he has been declared elected unopposed. ~ In the case of the Greymouth Borough Council there are 14 nominations for the nine seats, the same number of candidates as at the last election. Messrs Hyde Herring (P r^sent Deputy-Mayor) and G. M. Truman were two of the last Council who have not been nominated ioi re-election. . J „ ~ There are four candidates for the two Borough seats on the Greymouth Harbour Board, both the sitting members, Messrs J. B. Kent and W. E. Bring being again nominated, while the new candidates here are Mr. A. Panther, President of the Waterside Workers’ Union, and Mr. W. E. J. Steer, a son of a former member of the Board, Mr. Jesse Steel* There is one woman candidate lor the Grey Hospital Board among the 10 nominations for six Borough seals on the Grey Hospital Board. She is Mrs. Dorothy Martha Parlilt, wile of Mr. E. Parfitt. 2 . In the case of the Grey Electric Power Board there are seven candidates for the four Borough seats, including sitting members in Messrs Kent, P. Blanchfield, W. E. Pring and W. H. Parfitt.
