KUMARA~BOROUGH When nominations closed at noon to-day in the Kumara Borough, there were no nominations for the office of Mayor, and only one nomination for the nine seats on the Borough Council, that of Mr. James Murphy. For the combined seat with Ross on the Westland Hospital Board, there is one nomination, Mr. W. J. Richards. Further steps to form a Council are being taken. , _ According to Section 41 of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 192 a, ii at any election to fill a vacancy in any office no person is nominated or returned, or a less number of persons is nominated or returned than there are vacancies to be filled, any vacancy remaining unfilled shall be deemed to be an extraordinary vacancy occurring on the day appointed for the nomination or election. The procedure to be* followed then is for the Returning Officer to call nominations for the vacancies. INANGAHUA NOMINATIONS. [SPECIAL TO “STAR.”] REEFTON, May 15. Keen interest is being taken in the Inangahua County in the local body elections and the nominations, which closed at noon to-day, show that there will be an election for all seats except one in the district.
