GOLF. The first round of the Greymouth Golf Club’s Dewar Cup competition was played at the Kaiata links during the week-end, when the following were the scores:—Hill and Caulton, all square; Foster, 2 down; Stopforth, 3 down; Davis and Jacobs, 4 down; Lindley, McKechnie and Chivers, 5 down; Moss and Boustridge, 6 down; Mitchell, 7 down; Tindale, 8 down; Woodhouse, 9 down; Walters, .10 down. Walters and Davis (holders) finished all square with Lindley and Woodhouse for the Mitchell Buttons. WOMEN’S MATCH The first L.G.U. medal match for the season played on Saturday was won by Mrs. J. W. Hannan. 95—17— 78. BLACKWATER MINES SHIELD. Ikamatua Golf Club successfully defended challenges from Waitahu and Tot'ora Flat Golf Clubs. The following were the net scores:— Ikamatua A team: August 76, Bannan 70, Gardyne 68. Wilson 70. Total 284. Ikamatua B team: Nolan 75, W. O’Malley 83, Fraser 83, White 68. Total 309. Waitahu A team: Father Nolan 76, McKenzie 78. Humphries 77, Gilmer 78. Total 309. Waitahu B team: Doyle 79, Patterson 85, Osborne 82, Watts 72. Total 318. Totara Flat: Griffin 74, Brown 76, McVicar 77, Doig 92. Total 319. Ikamatua and Waitahu women played a challenge match for an inter-club cup, which was won by Ikamatua with a total net score of 322; Waitahu 345. BASKETBALL. Following were the results of the West Coast Basketball Association’s matches on Saturday at Greymouth: Technical O.G. A 29, Nurses 4; Runanga A 23, Technical O.G. A Reserve 2; Convent Old Girls A 12 United 5: Technical O.G. B 16, United B 11; Convent Old Girls B 14, Paroa 12; Runanga B 1.1, Convent C 5.
