Temporary-Major G. F. Yerex, New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes his appointment of chief instructor, forest and jungle warfare wing, Army School oi Instruction, Trentham, according to last night’s Gazette. He is seconded to the Department of Internal Affairs. —P.A.

The death occurred yesterday at Reefton, of Mr. Horace George Clark, a native of Christchurch, aged 64 years. Deceased worked in the gold mining industry in Victoria in his early years, but returned to New Zealand in 1913, since when, until his retirement seven years ago, he had been employed in quartz mining in the Inangahua district. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. F. Absalom (Reefton) and five sons, Neville (Kumara), Albert (Nelson), Harry, Norman and Stanley (Reefton); one brother, Arthur (Templeton) and one sister, Mrs. H. Parsons (Christchurch).

AVeil known as parish priest at Ashburton for 51 years the Very Rev. Dean James Joseph O’Donnell died at- Christchurch yestarday. The golden jubilee of his appointment of parish priest in Ashburton was in November, 1942. In June, 1940, the diamond jubilee of his induction as a priest was celebrated. Dean O'Donnell was born in County Limerick, Ireland, on November 1, 1856. He was educated nt Mount Mellaray, and after a distinguished college course he entered All Hallows College, Dublin, in 1876, to take his theological studies. Ordained as a priest on June 24, 1880, he came to New Zealand in November of that year and worked for a time in what is now the Cathedral parish. Later he was parish priest at AVaimate, Ahaura, and Darfield. He was appointed a dean during the episcopacy of Bishop Grimes.
