CITRUS FRUIT PRICES
TAURANGA, January 22. Protests against the ceiling price for citrus fruits were reaffirmed at the quarterly meeting of the Bay of Plenty Citrus Fruitgrowers’ Association to-day. It was also decided to make representations to the Department of Agriculture and the Primary Production Council regarding the shortage of labour in the citrus orchards as a result of the Government diverting casual labour to State vegetable gardens by offering remuneration which the citrus grower could not afford to pay.
BUS DRIVERS’ DISPUTE WELLINGTON, January 2.3. The resumption of the normal running by Auckland buses has not affected the determination of Wellington railway bus drivers not to operate on certain routes on Sundays till they are paid at the rate of double time for all time worked on those days. To-day, foi' the second Sunday in succession, there were no buses on the Wellington-Hutt, Wel-lington-Ngaio-Khandallah, and Wel-lington-Titahi Bay routes. In addition, the Paraparaumu service, which
operated on the previous Sunday, was also out of commission.
Two regular drivers took buses free of charge from the Porirua railway station to the IVTaori Pa, where there was a memorial service for war dead.
