SATURDAY’S RESULTS
DUNEDIN, January 23. One of the biggest sensations of the Dominion bowling tournament was provided in the fours tournament, when post-section play continued on Saturday. The. champion Canterbury team, skipped by P. Munn, was overI whelmingly defeated by M. J. J Squire’s Hawera quartet by 23-4. At the end of the day C. G. Spearman. (Christchurch R.S.A.) and C. E. Tyrrell (Roslyn) were the only twolifers left in the competition, and R. Haworth (Canterbury), H. J. Mingins (Onehunga), M. J. Squire (Hawera), and J. 'B. Lawrie (Victoria, Wellington) were each left with one life. As players became available from other competitions, post-section play in the singles advanced still further, and at the end of the day’s play some of the matches in the seventh round had been decided. Actually the position is that there are five players left in the competition. M. J. Squire (Hawera) and W. J. Short (Pukekohe), both one-lifers, have still to play their match in the sixth round. A. Clark (Ashbury, Timaru), the only twolifer remaining, will meet the winner in the seventh round. Others still in the competition are M. McKenzie (Te Rangi, Invercargill) and W. Gilbert (Kelburn).
