KUMARA NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Mrs. Hunter (Vice-President) presided over a good attendance at the November meeting of the Women’s Institute. The Vice President said that since last meeting, their President, Mrs. A. Fensom, had passed away. All members were much distressed. The good work and lively interest she had displayed would long be remembered. Mrs. J. Reedy (past President) also expressed the heartfelt sympathy of the Institute and stated that the late Mrs. Fensom had always taken a keen and active part in the Institute activities and all members were grateful for the selfsacrifice and assistance she had always given. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Several Institutes sent letters of condolence with the Institute and members of the family. Mr. Neville Clark (Postmaster) spoke on the National Savings with the view to the Institute forming a National Savings Group. It was decided to hold the Children’s Christmas Party after the next meeting. Samples of'Ric Rac Eraid were on display, the work of Mrs. Hill (Dobson). The social half-hour competition was won by Mesdames Fahey and Malcolmson. Best lettuce. Mrs. Birss 1. Bestbloom, Miss Hamer 1, Mrs. Stratford 2, Mrs. Reedy 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mesdames Comport and Lakin.
