WEST coast*association. Mr. W. Meates presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the West Coast Cricket Association last evening. In welcoming the members, the President said it was the largest attendance the Association had had at a meeting for several years and he trusted that it was a good augury for the new season. , , A motion of condolence was passed with the relations of the late Mr. J. D. Cullen. The annual report and the balance sheet, showing a loss of £7 10/9 on the past season, was read and adopted. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. F. M. Dennehy (reelected); president, Mr. W. Meates (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs J. O’Brien, M.P., J. Stokes, D. R. Dowell, L. P. Coffey, L. Hunter, G. F. Howes; management committee, Messrs T. Mclntosh, H. Ryan, O. Morris, H. Westwood, J. Guy, A. Fletcher, F. Wicks and Rev. Bro. Clarent; postponement committee, Messrs Ryan and Westwood: selector, Mr. O. Morris (trte-electjed); delegate to N.Z. Council, Mr. I. B. Cromb (re-elected). The appointments of Serretary-Treasurer and Auditor were referred to the management committee. Letters from the N.Z. Council regarding petrol allocations and from the Buller Association regarding the Council of Sport were referred to the first meeting of the management committee.
It was decided to write to the Primary Schools’ Sports Association with a'view to the re-introduction of inter-schools competitions. Votes of thanks were accorded the Patron (Mr. F. M. Dermehy) and Mr. J. O’Donnell for assistance during the year. It was resolved that Technical and Marist play the first competition match on Saturday and that teams to be selected from the following play at the Recreation Ground oh Sunday: Westwood, Guy, Barlow, Morris, Mclntosh, De Freatus, Knapp (2), Hamilton, Russell, Hornsby, Dewar, Roberts, Jones, Saunders, Thompson, Webster, Keating, Bayley. Sansom, Mumm, Meates. Beams,'Jarden, Allen, Gilbert, Webber and Spender. A working bee was arranged for attention to the Recreation Ground on Friday evening.
Playing for St. Patrick’s College Old Boys at Wellington on Saturday against Wellington College Old Boys, D. Knapp secured five wickest for 61. At "one stage he had taken four wickets for nine runs off six overs. Wellington Old Eoys won, scoring 162 runs for nine wickets, when rain stopped play, against their opponents’ 81. J. R. Keddie, formerly of Greymouth, playing for a Navy team in the Wellington second grade competition scored 16 and 27 runs in the opening matches and took two for 32 and three for 34.
