MONTHLY MEETING

I There was a small attendance at > the monthly meeting of the Grey- '■ mouth Harbour Board, last evening. IMr J. B. Kent presided, also present : being Messrs J. Ryall, M.L.C., W. E. i Pring, J. Smeaton, and W. Clayton. * Accounts totalling £lB9B/15/7 I were pasesd lor payment. Receipts since the last meeting totalled £1241 : 11/10 as follow: Shipping dues, £657 ! 19/2; royalties, £2/9/5; rents, £43 13/5; hire and sate of plant, £3/6/3; j accident compensation, £43/13/4; wharfages, £483/14/5: sate of quarry I stone, £7/5/10. The Treasury Department remitted £56.3/11/3 general wharfages and £2/9/5 royalties, and the Railways Department £7/5/10 for quarry i stone.

A debit balance of £4028/11/8 was reported in the Harbour Fund Account.

The Registrar of Electors inquired if the Board’s offices would be available for use as a polling booth at the General Elections.—The offices are to be made available on the usual terms.

Mr A. J. Allerker, Sydney, inquired if the dredge Mawhera was lor sate. —It was decided to reply in the negative.

The Branch Manager, State Insurance Office, forwarded an accident insurance policy endorsed to , cover over-rate workers.—Received. 1 The Chairman stated that every imember of the staff except the Sec- | rotary was now insured. ; The Secretary of the Greymouth Branch of the Harbour Employees’ Union wrote requesting a meeting ol the Disputes Committee in reference to matters in dispute.—lt was decided to meet the employees as requested. The District Manpower Officer forwarded permission to terminate the employment of E. J. Simons and J. S. 1 runt er. One man has entered a mine and the other has gone to sea. The St. John Ambulance Association. in response to an appeal, was granted £5/5/-. Greymouth Prefabricators and Builders wrote accepting condition of tease of section 8 reclaimed land, Lagoon Dock area.

B. W. Caulton applied for a tease of section 9 reclaimed land, Lagoon Dock area.—Granted a year-to-year title. • ’

i Consent was given the transfer of I part section 114, Reserve 1427 Blaketown, from F. T. Debenham to J. H. and A. E .Lyall. The Engineer (Mr D. S. Kennedy) reported, inter alia, that work on the lower end of the main wharf had been carried out, the necessary three 1 piles having been driven and eight beams with decking, etc., replaced out of the best of the old timber. Painting of the interior of the power ■house was almost completed. Small repairs had been done to the dredge, chain boat, and quarry trucks. The quarry had been worked on eight dtiys supplying second-class stone to the Railways Department. Concrete work had bion done on the north ma ', c , as r V 1G sca anf l weather per- ’ Ti 10 quarry output had been--197 tons 11 cwt. for the railways, also about 200 tons of stone for the north breakwater. A total of 182 tons of concrete had besn made.
