N.Z. MILITARY FORCES

WELLINGTON, May 20

The following appointments and promotions of officers in the New Zealand military forces arc gazetted: Staff: Major (acting colonel) H. E. Fernyhough, Royal Artillery, is to command the New Zealand Staff College, and is granted the temporary rank of colonel. Temporary Lieuten-ant-Colonel P. V. Graves, assistant director of medical services, is appointed a colonel on the New Zealand temporary staff.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. R. G. Bassett, V.C., New Zealand Corps of Signals, is appointed to command the Northern District Signals.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. N. Newman, D. 5.0., is appointed commander of artillery,-Northern Military District. Confirmation of the appointment of Colonel C. W. Salmon, D.C.M., in the rank of staff colonel, 2nd N.Z.E.F. (Pacific), and Lieutenant-Colonel H. A. Jones, N.Z. Engineers, is also gazetted.
