Mr L., A. McNeill, engine driver. Greymouth, has been transferred by the RailAvays Department to Christchurch, and leaves to-morrow.
Mr and Mrs J. Sherlock, and Lieutenant F. Sherlock, formerly of Greymouth and now of Addington, are visitors to Greymouth.
Mr Justice Northcroft, who presided over the quarterly Sessions of the Supreme Court in Greymouth this week, returned this morning, to
Rev. A. Learning, who was recently appointed vicar of St. Stephen’s Church, Reefton, has arrived to take charge of the parish.

Able Seaman J. W. C. Kroening, who Avas aAvarded a letter of recommendation in a recent list of decorations is the eldest son of Mr. F. W. Kroening, of Greymouth. His Avife also resides in Greymouth.
Rev. L. A. D. Hayman, Avho has been appointed to succeed the Rev. G. Hanna as minister of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Hokitika, will commence duty on the third Sunday in April.
Mrs. H. Williams, of BlaketoAvn, Avho for the last 37 years has been in charge of the women’s rest room for the Greymouth Jockey Club, Avas yesterday the recipient of a presentation from the committee of the club as a mark of appreciation.
The selection of Mr. W. P. Endean (Remuera) as National Party delegate to the Empire Parliamentary Association conference in London Avas announced last evening by the Leader of the Party (Mr. Holland) Avho, as announced recently, cancelled arrangements to go to the conference himself because of the decision to hold an election this year.— P.A.
Captain John Weir Burgess, Chief Pilot for Tasman Empire Airways since the Company’s inception in 1939, who will leave New Zealand shortly for America to take up a post with British Overseas Airways in Baltimore, was accorded an informal reception at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board. Captain Burgess’s wife and two children will travel with him. His place is- to be taken by Captain Oscar Garden, second pilot of the Company.—P.A.
The death took place at Hokitika, yesterday, of Mrs Sarah Michel, widow of Hon. H. L. Michel, M.L.C., aged 83 years. Mrs Michel, who -was born at Hobart (Tasmania) had resided in Hokitika for about 70 years, having with her late husband been closely identified with the development of the district. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs W. McFarlane (Hokitika) and Mrs Strawbridge (Gisborne), and three sons, Garnet (Hokitika), Arthur, and Henry (Koiterangi).
