TRAINS FOR SHIELD MATCHES
WESTPORT, August 17. The Buller Rugby Union appealed to the Railways Department for an excursion train' from Reefton to Westport for the Seddon Shield match last Saturday, but the apphcation was turned down, owing, it was stated, to the shortage of rolling stock. The Union decided, to-night, again to apply for an excursion train when the Nelson challenge match is played, probably on Saturday, August 29, and if Buller still holds the Seddon Shield, for an excursion . train from Greymouth on the occasion of the West Coast challenge, a fortnight later in the season.
