SWIMMING
SEASON’S” FIRST CARNIVAL
The first swimming carnival of the present season was held at the Municipal Baths on Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the Greymouth Amateur Swimming Club. Ideal conditions prevailed and satisfactory entries enabled an entertaining programme of races and novelty events to be conducted. Crood times were recorded in the swimming events, and competition throughout was keen. There was a large attendance of the public. The following were the results:—

SURFING Two resuscitation events were conducted by the Greymouth Surf Club on the Blaketown beach, yesterday afternoon. Mr. A. Feilding was judge, and Mr. P. G. Smith timekeeper. Following were the results: Quinney Cup (seniors): C. Richardson 18.36 1; L. Harrington 16.76 2; J. Stone and J. Cain 16.12 equal ; 3. Seven competed. Barr Cup (junior): J. Thorpe 17.- 1 32; G. Bennington 17.28 2; R. Olsen 16.92 3. Six competed.
