W. O’NEILL WINS PAIRS

The West Coast Bowling Centre’s annual tournament concluded on Saturday in perfect weather. In the finals in the afternoon, there was some first-class bowling. W. O’Neill, of Runanga Club, partnered by T. Bowes, won the pairs competition, and the fours went to P. Munn (Canterbury), who had with him T. Harrall, W. Joseph, and A. Williamson. In the final of the pairs, O’Neill and Bowes defeated C. Spearman, and J. Whyte of the R.S.A. Club, Christchurch, by 18 to 17, after a keenlycontested game, in which both pairs played excellent bowls. The fours final was less evenly contested, Munn winning from A. Clark (Barrington) by 19 to 13, but the standard of play was none the less aigh. } Trophies were presented at the I close of the tournament by tne Presi-' lent of the Centre, Mr J.
