WEDDING

OGILVIE—EDGAR

The wedding was solemnised recently, at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, of Hazel, younger daughter of Mrs and the late Mr G. D. Edgar, to George Henry, son of Mr and Mrs H. G. Ogilvie. Rev. A. D Horwell officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr Comport, wore a gown of ivory duchess satin, made with long, full skirt, mouldea over the hips. The full-length train was of an unusual squared-shape, bordered with ivory silk tulle, which was richly embroidered and appliqued in arum lily design. The long fitting bodice was slightly gathered in front and had a heart-shaped neckline. Tiny satin buttons placed from the neck to well below the waist-line finished the back. Her ivory tulle veil was arranged to form a second square train, also appliqued in arum lily design to match her frock. The scalloped edge was finished with tiny French lace, and fell from a pearled orange blossom coronet. She carried an armlet of lilies and carnations.

The two bridesmaids. Miss Molly Tennent and Miss Eulalie Meagher, were frocked alike in frocks of ivory georgette over taffeta. The full skirts, gathered at the waistline, were trimmed with vandyked rows of ruched ivory tulle, the bodice being softly gathered both back and front. They had puff sleeves. They wore picture hats of fancy crinoline straw with trimmed bands and long streamers of scarlet ribbon velvet. They carried sheafs of scarlet gladioli, tied with scarlet velvet to match their frocks.

At the reception, held at Harker’s, the bride’s mother (Mrs Edgar) received the guests wearing a smart navy riptide silk ensemble, fur necklet and shoulder spray of pink-toned roses. Her lacquered straw hat was relieved with white, with navy accessories. The bridegroom’s mother wore a model silk frock in black, trimmed with gold tinsel, a black fur felt hat, gold ornaments and autumntinted shoulder spray. The bride and bridegroom left for a tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in a black tailored chalkstripe worsted costume, a silvertipped fox fur necket and a black straw hat and accessories.
