N.Z. ARMY TEAM WINS
[BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.]
LONDON, December 15. The New Zealand Army Rugby team defeated the Aidershot Command yesterday by 8 points to nil. The “Sunday Times” says: The New Zealanders had much the worse of the first half. Then they showed an all-round improvement, which brought victory. The All Blacks were clearly outplayed behind the scrum in the first half, and it was only the fearless tackling of their backs that prevented Aidershot from scoring. Bonner got over, wide out, for the New Zealanders just before the interval, for a try, which, was against the run of play. The New Zealanders then showed real form, putting Aideshot on the defensive for long periods. Tindill, the scrum halt, scored a magnificent try, darting from a scrum and running hard ana straight before selling the dummy. A clever hand-off carried him over when he was tackled a yard from the line. Peterson made no mistake with the kick. LATER.
The match was played in rain. The ground was heavy and the baft greasy. The N.Z. team was. Full-back: Paterson. Three-quar-ters, Private R. Bonner (Auckland Battalion), O’Hearn and Private M. H.
