ST. JOHN’S CHURCH
CHRISTMAS CHORAL SERVICE. At St. John’s Presbyterian Church yesterday morning the annual prizegiving to Sunday School scholars took place. An appropriate address was given by Rew A. D. Horwell, and the service .of praise was led by the Junior Choir. In the evening the Christmas choral service was held. Mr Horwell delivered a short sermon on the text, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth” (St. John 4, 24). The senior choir (Mr F. Smith, choirmaster, and Miss M. Coburn, organist) contributed the musical programme as follows:—Anthem, “Come all ye Faithful”; anthem, “Glory to God”pcontralto solo, Miss (Freeman Brown, “For Unto Us a Child is Born”; anthem, “While Shepherds Watched”; quartette, “Holy Night,” Misses Chisholm, Freeman Brown, Messrs ' Smith and -Angus; anthem, “And the Glory of the Lord”; baritone solo, K. Fehsenfeld, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”; “The Gloria,” from Mozart’s Mass. At both services there were large congregations.
