HOKITIKA NOTES

[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, December 3. The Hokitika Fire Board met. yesterday. Mr A. R. Elcock presided over the following members:—Messrs S. J. Preston, J. J. Mclntosh, E. H. Box, and F. S. Grant. L. L. Ross (brigade superintendent) and W. E. Gaylor (secretary). Receipts for period £137/15/8, expenditure £ll5/4/1. The lease of a reserve by the Borough Council was agreed to, subject to certain clauses being inserted in the deed' protecting the Board’s property on the reserve. The Treasury Office wrote acknowledging receipt of new plans of new station, and stating the plan will be placed before the Loans Board at the first meeting .of the Board. The Inspector of Fire Brigades wrote respecting home defences, of the volunteer fire brigades.—Referred to Superintendent. The Secretary of the Loans Board wrote, notifying certain alterations of the plans and specificatons, and pointing out same for the Board’s recommendation.—Referred to Mr Wiliamson for necessary adjustments. The secretary of the Hokitika Fire Brigade wrote, asking for the annual grant of £2O to the funds of the brigade, also £5 for Christmas cheer. —Granted.
