VALEDICTORY

AERO CLUB MEMBERS. Mr E. M. Good, who will leave tomorrow for Harewood aerodrome, to join the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a flight mechanic, and Mr M. E. Spiers, who will leave on September 1 for the Levin aerodrome, to undergo an instructor’s course in the Aii' Force, were farewelled, last evening, by fellow members of the Greymouth Aero Club.' They were the guests iof the president '(Mr T. P. Ryan) and executive of the club at a dinner at the Albion Hotel, when presentations were made.

In presenting a silver cigarettecase to Mr Good, and a Loewe pipe and pouch to Mr Spiers, Mr Ryan referred to their fine work as pioneer members of the club, and congratulated them on joining the Air Force. The Mayor, Mr F. A. Kitchingham, as patron of the club, also extended good wishes to the guests, and wished them a speedy and safe return. Other members and supporters of the club also extended best wishes.

Later, a social evening was held at the club rooms, in honour of Messrs Good and Spiers, when several speakers wished them success in the Air Force.

Mr Good presented the club with a Union Jack, which, he said, had been flown on a hospital ship in the Great War and was presented to him by the captain. During the evening items were given by Messrs J. Duffy and Paterson, and community singing was led by Mr Duffy. Musical honours were accorded the guests.
