SUVA, June 12.
Harry William Solomons was arrested to-day and charged that on December 16, in Victoria, he unlawfully cut a broadcast telegraph wire. He was remanded in custody. Soloihons arrived at Suva by the “Monterey,” on May 30, under the name of Raymond Dennison. A passport in this name was taken out in Auckland. Inquiries- from Melbourne led to his arrest. PETROL RATIONING MELBOURNE, June 12. The Minister for Supply (Sir Frederick Stewart) has announced that the Federal Ministry has decided to introduce a petrol rationing scheme, for which details are being worked out. The rationing will become effective in about six weeks. The Government aims at a 33 per cent, reduction in petrol consumption.
PATROL VESSELS.
SYDNEY, June 12.
It is announced to-night that 13 patrol vessels for the Royal Navy will be built immediately in the- shipyards of the Commonwealth, each of 840 tons.
