COAL EXPORT
GREYMOUTH’S BIG INCREASE. According to a return supplied by the Railways Department, coal exported from the port of Greymouth during the four-weekly period, ended April 27 last, amounted to 17,154 tons, as compared with 11,925 tons in. the corresponding period' of last year, an increase of 5229 tons. All of the district mines increased their export during the period, with the exception of Paparoa and Briandale, while over 3000 tons came from the. new Strongman mine. The figures, in tons, from the various mines, with the totals for the corresponding period of last year also
An increase was also shown in the amount of timber exported from the port during the same period, the total being 2,725,690 superficial feet, as compared -with 2,152,636 feet in the corresponding period.of last year.
