REEFTON, February 21. At a sitting of the Warden’s Court, yesterday, Mr. G. G. Chisholm, as Warden, heard the following applications:— J. J. Mclntosh for leave to surrender two mining privileges claim license. —Accepted, Water race license. —Recommended. J. Hargreaves, a second application for extension ot time for hearing of an application. Recommended. At the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. G. G. Chisholm, S.M., John Egan, who pleaded guilty for failing to way at a street intersection, was fined 15/-, costs 10/-.' For being found on licensed premises after hours, a fiist offender was convicted and fined 5/with costs 10/-. For a similar offence, H. Patterson and W. Barrow were each convicted and fined 10/- with costs 10/-. H. Poulton (Mr. Morgan) licensee of the Buck’s Head hotel, Reefton, for exposing liquor for sale after hours and for aiding and abetting persons found illegally on licensed premises after hours, was convicted on both charges and fined £2 on one charge, and 10/- bn the second, with 10/- costs in each case. William Pengelly, aged 19, was charged with, disorderly conduct in a public place, theft at Inangahua Junction, and with two breaches of his probationary license. Evidence as to the charge of disorderly conduct was given by two girls whom accused endeavoured to stop from proceeding over a bridge to their home, and by George Mangos. Constable Robertson gave evidence of* an interview with Pengelly concerning three of the charges. Pengelly pleaded not guilty to the first charge, and guilty to the remaining three. He was convicted, and on the charge of disorderly conduct was ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months if called upon, and to pay within one month 24/- witnesses’ expenses and Court costs 19/-. On theft charge he was ordered to pay 2/6 witness’s expenses and to come up for sentence if called, within 12 months. On the two remaining charges, he was placed on probation, for a period of two years.
