WASHINGTON. February 10.
William D.’ P.elley', an anti-Semitic Silver’ Shirt leader, was arrested at the conclusion of a week’s testimony which he gave before the Dies Committee, on a charge of violating the good behaviour proviso in a suspended sentence imposed on him for stock frauds in North Carolina. The Dies Committee accused Pelley. of “fulsomely praising Herr Hitler, and advocating dictatorship, vigilantism, and the segregation of Jews.”
MUNITIONS FOR N.Z.
OTTAWA, February 11.
It is understood that the New Zealand ' Government is considering the purchase of much munitions from Canada.. Two Canadian plants are under_consideration) for the manufacture of'shells of the 25-pounder class.

THE HAGUE, February 11
The’ Government decided to introduce a Bill authorising the construction of three battle cruisers. To meet the cost of mobilisation, the Government has introduced a Bill raising death duties by 15 per cent., petrol duty 2|d per gallon, sugar excise 10 per cent., and import duty on coffee 3d per lb.

RUGBY, February 12.
The .Board of Trade announces that technical discussion regarding. tsxde between United Kingdom and France, which has been taking place between representatives of the French Ministry and Commerce and the Board of Trade, resulted in arrangements being worked out to ensure the application of general - principles on which M. Gentiri (French Minister of Commerce), and Sir Andrew DUrican had previously agreed. The' understanding reached is • now being submitted for the approval of two Goverriments. M. Alphandy-' Direcfeur'- dw-Commerce Ex-' terieur, and the French delegation have now returned to Paris for this purpose. CANADIAN CONTINGENT. • .
