RIFLE-SHOOTING
GREY DEFENCE CLUB. The final competition for J. Rhodes Cup was fired off on the Cobden range yesterday afternoon in good shooting conditions, although the light at 600 yards was rather dull. Rflm. C. Richardson, the veteran member of the club, showed a taste of his old form to score 101 off the rifle. His score card read as follows: 500yds: 454, 555, 45a, 55„ total 52: 600yds: 545. 555, 555, a, total 49, handicap 1, total 102. Rflm. Richardson now leads for the cup with a total of 201, while Rflm. O. Mutch, with 102 and still to shoot, requires 100 to win. President J. Prendergast, who last week scored 101, started off for a good score with a fine 11 shot possible at 500, but crashed at 600yds., the dull light beating him. The following were the leading scores (conditions 11 shots at 500yds, 10 shots at 600 yds, and one optional sighter at. each ' range): —
