The Ministey of Food announces that the maximum standstill prices for imported cheese are as follow: Canadian (1939 make), finest 78/-, fine 74/-, New Zealand 75/-, Australian 73/-, South African 73/-, all per cwt.

A further increase of £128,000 in. the Reserve Bank’s total advances to the State is shown in the bank’s return as at the close of business on Monday. Advances for marketing have risen by £678,053 to £6,462,351, but this rise has been partly offset by a decline of £550,000 to £16,775,000 in the advances for other State purposes. The note issue shows a further expansion of £37,281 to £17,371,820, and sterling exchange is £138,042 higher at £5,743,087. Total deposits are higher, a decline of £571,509 in those of the banks having been more than offset by a rise of £952,769 in those of the State. Other demand liabilities are £140,726 lower.

The proportion of reserve to notes and othei‘ demand liabilities is 25.367 per cent., against 25.162 per cent, a week ago.
