The American Museum of Natural History and the University of Columbia are sponsoring a 400,000 miles Pacific cruise in the three-masted schooner Director 11. The expedition is to collect rare birds, geological specimens, and a record of primitive music from the Fijis to New. Guinea. The schooner will carry a light aeroplane for survey work. Supplies will leave early in December. . The personnel will include Mrs; Bruce Mahnestock, 55, the widow of a stockbroker, and her ttvo sons, who were previously members of an expedition in the Pacific.
