At a meeting of the New Zealand Woollen Mill Owners’ Association in Wellington, reference was made to-the death of the president, Mr. James Evans. The vacancy was filled by the appointment of Mr. W. R. Carey, general mahager of the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing

Messrs. A. O’Connor and P. Byrne, who left, this morning, for Burnham Camp were farewelled last evening by friends, and each was presented with a wristlet watch. They were also farewelled by fellow-employees at the Wallsend mine, and presented with a wallet of notes.

Mr. T. A. Barrow, Air Secretary, who is a member of the New Zealand delegation to the conference to be held in Canada on Air Force. training, is’ a son of Mr. W. Barrow, of Greymouth. His successor during his absence, Mr. P. C. Weenink, is a son of the late Mr. H. Weenink, of Greymouth. Both were pupils of the Grey Main School.

\ The secretary of the Greymouth Harbour Board, Mr. W. B. Gilbert, to-day received a cablegram, stating that Mrs. Milne, wife of Mr. D. C. Milne, engineer' of the Board, died suddenly, in Aberdeen, yesterday. Mr. Milne, accompanied by his wife and family, left for the Old Country a few months ago,, to superintend the construction of the Board’s new hopperdredge, the arrangement being that his engagement with the Board should terminate on the completion of that work!
