Ratana, M.P., as president of the Ratana Church and Movement, in succession to his father, Mr. T. W. Ratana, is at present being obtained from adherents throughout the Dominion. Mr. Ratana is regarded as a logical successor to the presidency, and lie has already been proclaimed as such by the leading executive men in the movement, Mr. E. T. Tirikatene, M.P., Mr. P. K. Paikea, M.P., and Mr. J. Ormond, as well as. by Maori people living at Ratana pa and members who were present at the tangi. However, to obtain the full acquiescence’ of adherents of the movement throughout New Zealand, a memorial is being circulated for their signature. It is expected that this document, formally requesting Mr. Ratana to succeed his father as president, will be officially presented to him at an appropriate ceremony early next month.
