ARAHURA EAT STOCK SALE. W. Jeffries and Co. submit the following report: —There was a. full yarding of cattle forward for Monday’s fixture, totalling 87 head. The quality was good, with the exception of a few pens, which showed the effects of the recent severe weather. The attendance of buyers was good, and the sale, which at the commencement was rather weak, firmed as it progressed. Our entry came from Messrs F. W. and J. M. Gibb, and comprised 48 head, which sold from 38/- to 41/- per 100. The Mataki return for the week ended August 18 was 30oz. for 133 hours’ work and 11,400 yards. GILLESPIE’S BEACH. The Gillespie’s Beach return is 58oz, for 210 hours and 24.247 yards. NEW RIVER. The New River return for the week ended August 17 is 38ozs. from 6536 yards, treated in 126 hours’ dredging time. MURCHISON-MATAKI. WELLINGTON, August 22. The Murchison-Mataki Junction return for the week ended August 17 was 370 z, for 111 hours and 14,000 yards. GREENLAND COMPANY The Greenland Gold Company, Ltd., which has operated on the Greenland Reefs, just outside Ross, will hold a special meeting on September 7 to consider a resolution proposing the voluntary winding up of the company. During the past months the company has installed a lot of modern machinery and was considered to have a bright future. The quartz mine has been in operation at different periods for the past 40 years.
