OBITUARY
MR .JAMES RING. The death occurred at his residence, Shakespeare Street, this morning, of Mr James Ring, aged <B3 years, who had been a resident, of Greymouth for over 60 years. Deceased, who was born at Camberwell, London, came to New Zealand in 1879, and settled in Greymouth. He followed the profession of photography until his retirement about 10 years ago. He was interested in gold-mining, and was a director of Westland Timber Ltd'. Deceased had been a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, since 1883, and was Superintendent of the Sunday School for 55 years, and Session Clerk for'22 years. For a few years he was also a member of the Greymouth State School Committee. He was a foundation member of the Greymouth Bowling Club, and President of the West Coast Bowling Centre for upwards of 20 years. Deceased was a member of Lodge Mawhera, No. 136, and treasurer for over 25 years, and also a member of the Royal Arch Chapter. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Mr C. J. Ring, and Mr AV. A. Ring,, both of Christchurch, and two daughters, Mrs J. E. Langdon and Mrs J. M. Pirie (San Francisco). The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at Karoro cemetery.
