The death occurred in Christchurch;., yesterday, of sMr. George William Neighbours, at the age of 67. For a number of years deceased followed the trade of builder and pipe-maker at Greymouth aiid Reefton, and later at Waimangaroa. He was a native, of Waimangaroa. ",

The death occurred at Melbourne, yesterday, of Mr. Edward Lloyd- Baillieu, 70, part-o*wner of the racehorse Ajax and one of six brothers with wide business interests in Australia and London. He was a member of the London Stock Exchange, and was a prominent figure on the Australian turf. He won the Melbourne Cup in 1924 with Backwood.

The wedding took place at .St Andrew’s Church, Christchurch, on Wednesday, of Reta May, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Barnett,' of" Christchurch, hnd William Montague, second son of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. H. Wilde, of Greymduth. Rev. J. Law-son-Roberson officiated. The bridesmaids were Misses Phyllis Watson; Grace Brunell and Joyce Watson! Mr. Frederick ’ Brown, of GhristchuYclu • was best man, and Messrs George t White and Stanley . Barnett / were groomsmen. The guests were enter- r tained at the Ritz Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Wilde will reside at Greymouth. ■

The funeral of the late Mrs./ Ellen Kennedy took place this morning, at the Karoro Cemetery. There was a large attendance, the . cortege including representatives of district local bodies. Solemn Pontifical Requiem Mass wasi celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, the celebrant being Rt. Rev. Dr. M. J. Brodie, Bishop of Christchurch. The Deacon of the Mass was Rev. Father T. Hanrahan (Riccarton), the Sub-Deacon, Rev. Father D. Healy. (Kuinara) assistant Priest, Rev. Dr. James Kennedy, of Beckenham (a son. of deceased), and) the Master of Ceremonies Rev. Dr. G. Harrison .(Hokitika.). The Requiem Mass was sung by a choir of priests, the chanters be-< inig Rev. Father J. Finerty (Hokitika) and Rev. Father J. Hanrahan (Addington) . Clergy from all parishes on the West Coast were present, and also Rev. Monsignor Baldwin and Rev. Father M. Irvine (Ipswich, Queensland), Rev. Fathers J. Kilgour and F. P. Timony (the Cathedral, Christchurch). The. service at the graveside was conducted by Very Rev. Father. J. Long (Greymouth). The pallbearers were members of the staff of the Municipal Gas Department.
