CESSION OF HATAY
ITALIAN PROTEST TO FRANCE.
[by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.]
(Recd. July 14, 10.20 a.m.) ROME, July 13.
Italy has sent a Note to France, stating that the cession of Hatay is an obvious contradiction of the purposes of the Mandate, and is contrary to the wishes of the population. The Note complained that the cession was negotiated without the knowledge and consent of Italy, which is one of the Powers that, handed over the Mandate to France in 1920. Italy, therefore, expressed complete and fullest reserve regarding the contents of the new accord.
