PRICE OF PETROL
NO CHANGE IN GREYMOUTH
In connection with the regulation, gazetted a -few days ago, stabilising the price of petrol on the West Coast, inquiries made to-day elicited the information that there will be no alteration in the retail price of petrol in Greymouth as a result of the regulation.
The object of the regulation is to allow resellers of petrol a, maximum margin of profit of 3d per gallon. Greymouth resellers are already working on this margin, and, therefore, the retail prices locally, 2/2 and 2/3 a gallon, will remain unchanged. In Reefton and several country districts, hqwever, there will be a reduction in prices, ranging from Id to per gallon. 1 For the purpose of the regulation the West Coast is divided into six areas, and the retail prices fixed for each are as follow:—Westport, 2/3Y and 2/4?; per gallon; Reefton, Blackwater, Ikamatua, 2/31 and 2/41; Ahaura, Blackball, Ngahere, Kumara, Hokitika, 2/2:] and 2/3:i; Runanga. Brunner and Greymouth (areas 4 and 5) 2/2 and 2/3; Kanierf, Rimu, Ross, 2/3?; and 2/41. There is no fixation of prices for the area south of Ross.
