BOOT TO TOUR AUSTRALIA

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

WELLINGTON. January 17/ Arrangements have been completed by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association with the Australian Athletic Union for a three weeks’ tour of Australia by V. P. Boot. New Zealand and Empire Games champion runner. At to-night’s meeting of the council, the secretary, Mr. H. McCormick. reported that an official invitation had been received from Australia, and also an acceptance by the Canterbury Centre, and Boot would leave Christchurch for Wellington on January 21. departing for Australia on January 24. He would be in. Australia less than three weeks, and would not accept an invitation to compete at Newcastle on February 18. as he had to resume his duties on February 20. It would also be impossible to extend the tour to include a visit to Melbourne on February 18 and 25.
