EMPIRE TRADE
AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION [RY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. May IS, 8 a.m.). LONDON, May 17. The Associated Press correspondent states that the scope of the AngloAustralian trade negotiations, may be widened to include Canada. The possibility will be 1 discussed when the first Anglo-Australian full delegations meet on May 19, with representatives of the Board of Trade, -.the Dominion Office, and Ministry of Agriculture. It is l understood that Sir E. Page and his colleagues feel, with time passing and still no sign of a real commencement of business, something shbuld be done to indicate the programme for the talks, but difficulties continue because the British seem uncertain. The order of procedure is complicated by the Anglo-American. AngloAustralian, Austral-American, and Americo-Canadian negotiations being so inter-dependent. Apparently, the Canadians 1 consider they cannot con-
elude the Americo-Canadian discussions, in view of America’s 1 demands for the removal of preferences, until they know where they stand with Australia. Accordingly, the Australians feel the negotiations might be better- approached if the Canadian delegation came to London.
