WRESTLING
FRALEY DEFEATS TONTI. (per prebb association, J AUCKLAND, April 25. Two overseas wrestlers, the Canadian cowboy, Pat Fraley, and the American, Joe Tonti, appeared for the first time on Saturday night, and contested a bout of eight eight-minute rounds. Fraley won by a single fall, which was gained in the fourth round by his specialty flying toehold. The speed with which this was applied amazed the fairly large crowd. Tonti bounced off the ropes in an endeavour to lower his opponent with a flying tackle. Fraley, however, sidestepped with remarkable speed and agility, at the same time throwing forward his feet, with which he tripped Tonti, and then wrapped Tonti’s legs up to force submission quickly.
BLOMFIELD v. MEEHAN. DUNEDIN, April 25. A packed house at the Town Hall on Saturday night saw a hard eight rounds of wrestling by Lofty Blomfield, 16.9, and Pat Meehan (Canada), 16.2. No falls were recorded and the referee’s decision was a draw.
