Dr. E. Teichelman left this morning, for Christchurch. Mr. R. H. Biggar left to-day, on return to Ashburton. Miss J. Parfitt left to-day, on return to Invercargill. Mr. and Mrs., S. Steward left this morning, for Christchurch. Mr. A. L. Thompson left to-day, on return to Christchurch. Miss C. Johnstone left this morning, on return to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Carsdn left today, on return to Wellington. A London cablegram announced the death of Mr. Bertram Mills, a noted circus proprietor. The death is recorded by a London cablegram of Stephen Bloomer, three weeks after returning from his recent health trip to Australia and New Zealand. He was one of the finest Association players in the history of the game. Vice-Admiral the Hon. Sir Alexander Ramsay, Commander-in-Chief in the East Indies, has been appointed to a new position as fifth Sea Lord, with the additional title of Chief, of the Naval Air Services. The appointment is indicative of the Government’s determination to develop the fleet air arm as a vital. factor .in its defence programme.

The death occurred at Greymouth, on Saturday, of Mr. Patrick Joseph Miley, a native of Victoria, aged 50 years. Deceased had been engaged in farming at Wataroa for 15 years, but had resided at Greymouth for the past six' months. He recently underwent an operation, but his death came unexpectedly. He is survived by his wife, also a brother in the North Island and four sisters and four brothers in Australia. The funeral took place at the Wataroa cemetery this afternoon.
