SWIMMING
GREY CLUB MEETING. At a meeting of the Greymouth Swimming Club last evening, it was decided to conduct a carnival at the Municipal Baths on Thursday, January 27. Mr G. Walters presided. r rhe action of commitee members in arranging for swimmers to travel to Reefton, for a carnival, this evening. and to Ross on Saturday, was approved. The delegates to the Centre were instructed to support the proposal to have 2ft Gin take-off boards at all championship carnivals. The Chairman reported that following the “Learn to Swim” week, he had offered' free membership of the club to all children who cared to join, and about 50 had enrolled. —The Chairman’s action was endorsed, and a motion recording the thanks of the club for his interest, and good work during the “Learn to Swim” wcelfl was carried unanimously. The offer of the Greymouth Surf Life Saving Club to give a demonstration at the carnival next wUek, was accepted. It. was decided to invite the Civic Band to play for the carnival.. It was decided to ask the Baths Committee to take steps to locus the lights properly at the Municipal Baths prior to the carnival.
Sympathy was expressed with Mr A. Vincent, club captain, in his illness.
