"You can put an Empire label on New Zealand lamb, but you must not put a New Zealand label on Empire lain];." said Mr H. H. J. Ricketts, defending the Royal Arsenal Co-opera-tive Society, which was fined 20/- at Wimbledon for exposing tor sale imported meat with a false description. Mr Ricketts said that there was no quest ion of fraud. An inexperienced additional shopman during the Christmas rush put a New Zealand label on Empire lamb, because no Empire labels were available. OFFICIAL’S RESIGNATION. (Received January 20, 1 p.m.) LONDON. January 19. At a luncheon given by the Australian and Now Zealand Agents’ Association, a presentation was made to Mr. F. Deverell. London manager of the Now Zealand Refrigeration Company, who, after nineteen years' association with the meat, trade, is joining n financial house in the city. The one hundred and fifty guests present, included Sir Philip Proctor (Chairman), Sir Francis Boys, Mr. Heywood, Mr. Forsyth, and representatives of the entire meat trade of Australia and New Zealand, shippers and hankers.
