HOCKEY

TOURING TEAM SELECTION.

[per press association.] FILTH AM. June 22. Strong objection to the method of selection of the New Zealand Hockey team to tour Australia, was voiced at a meeting of the Taranaki Hockey Association. and a motion recording a protest was adopted. It was stated that of the 1G players chosen, eleven represented city associations. Neither of Taranaki’s two nominees was selected, yet this province was regatded as one of the strongest hockey centres in the Dominion. Mr. N. 0. Ebbett moved that a protest be recorded on behalf ot all country players and not Taranaki solely. While the members did not know the capabilities of the selected players, it. appeared that preference was shown for nominees of the major associations, said the President, Rev. J. A. Ryburn.
