The second anniversary of the St. Thomas Mothers’ Union was celebrated on Thursday, when Rev. E. W. Marks took the service. In the absence of Mrs. Marks who was indisposed, Mrs. Braithwaite presided. Mrs. P. Swan (Women’s Institute), Mrs. Timlin (Plunket), Airs. Hill (croquet) and Mrs. P. Higsou (Co-op. Women’s Guild) spoke in appreciation of the Union’s work. A birthday cake made by Mrs. Sweeney’ was cut byMrs. Glover, one of the oldest members. Items were given by Mesdames Taylor, Spedding, and Radcliil’e. Mrs.
■’ Smith was accompanist. A competition was won by Mrs. Parfitt. Mr. Marks thanked the visitors from Greymouth for their attendance. Afternoon tea was served. At the annual meeting, held recently. the report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The following officers were elected: —President, Mrs. Marks; secretary, Mrs. W. Wright; committee, Mesdames Key, Sweeney, K. Griffiths, Long. Radcliffe, and McPhee. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. T. Bowes for auditing the books, '(he meeting closed -with the Mothers’ Union prayer.
