REEFTON, June 21
Reefton experienced a shock of earthquake at 4 a.m. on Saturday. A heavy bump sufficient to wake most sleepers was followed by a sharp shake which lasted only a few seconds. No damage was reported. Mr Albert Annear was a week-end visitor to .Reefton.
A clear morning on Sunday gave place about mid-day to a heavy log. and the afternoon was miserable. There were heavy frosts on Saturday and Sunday. Miss Enid Cleaver, daughter of .Mr and Mrs C. H. Cleaver, of Reefton, who is a member of the New Zealand St. John Ambulance team which visited England to take part in the Coronation celebrations, writes of her experiences to her parents, and states that special privileges were granted to the visiting team, who had a fine view of the Coronation procession, both proceeding io and coming from Westminster Abbey. The New Zealand visiting team are being most hospitably entertained, and their vial engagements included a visit to the Houses of Parliament, a tea at f’>e of Lords, and a visit to Elstr"" motion picture studios. Their time is fully taken up with official visits.
