INANGAHUA MATCHES
On Wednesday, at the Reefton Racecourse, the local senior teams, Waratahs and Reefton, played' a drawn game, neither side scoring. The game was interesting, and a draw was a lair indication, although Reefton were superior in the forwards. Waratah backs misesd the thrust of N. Kiely, and most of the work fell on their captain, P. Scott. Howard at full back was safe, and his line kicking was good. Bennett and Willman played well on the wings, and Cutbush and Keating ably supported Scott in the inside attack. Watson, at half, fed' his hacks at every opportunity and was elusive. Although shaded by the Reefton forwards, the Waratah pack played well, Lewis being to the fore. McCready, McMahon, Cross and K. Cutbush got through a hard day’s work in good style. The Reefton forwards played their best game to date. Richards, • Morris, Cooper and Hill were the pick, Cooper securing the ball from the majority of the scrums. Story at half was in good form. The Bissett Brothers in the five-eighths line defended well, hut'were inclined to be slow on attack. McDougall, at centre, played excellently and made the most of his limited opportunities. Harrison and Brooks were safe on the wings.
■ At Inangahua Junction, the local seniors fully extended the competition leaders, Waiuta, the latter winning by 17 points to 13. In .the Junction team C. Wade made his reapparance at half-back, and played an excellent game. W. Clark was another who was in fine form. Lines was the pick of the remainder. In the pack Taylor, Fox, McManus and Jackson played good games. In the Waiuta team, Chandler and Hunt shone in the forwards, and' McLennan, Mitchell and Anderson in the backs. The result of yesterday’s games leaves the competition in an interesting state, as Waiuta now lead by two points with one game to play. On Saturday they will meet Waratahs at Waiuta, and a win for Waratahs will leave the points even and will necessitate a play-off. It has been proposed to play the, representative match with West Coast at Reefton on June 19 The Inngahua team will be announced at the week-end. WEEK-END TEAMS
