CORPORAL LOSES STRIPES

MORNING TEA SEQUEL.

LONDON, March 15.

Corporal Arthur Preece, of the Ist Bn. the Worcestershire Regiment who, it was stated at an Aidershot court-martial, took his men early morning cups of tea while they were in bed, has been sentenced’ to be reduced to the ranks.

The findings and sentence of the court were made known yesterday. Preece was found guilty of neglecting to obey battalion standing orders, which forbid non-commissioned officers to trade with private soldiers, and of breaking out of barracks when under 'open arrest. At the trial it was stated on behalf of Preece that he acted out of kindness of heart, and that his profit was negligible. His first thought was for his men.
