McCashin (880yds). The Canterbury team had much the better of the first, three distances, and when the Christchurch man handed tho baton on to his team mate for the last dash, Canterbury had a clear start of 20 yards. Canterbury thus won the Etevenaux Cup by the narrowest possible margin. An 80-yard's dash, in which Canterbury and Wellington runners competed, was won. by J. Nelligan (2yds). E. Newburgh (3yds) was second, and A. Welply (scr) third. There were seven starters. Time, 8 l-ssec.
