Carisbrook A won the senior cricket competition, which was concluded in sunny weather on soft wickets. Carisbrook A 208 for eight and 20 for two beat Albion 71 (Dunning six for 33, Nimmo three for 35) and 158 (Duncan 53, Everson not out 35; Nimmo three for 61). In a race against time Carisbrook failed by only two runs to reach the number required for an outright win. Kaikorai 274 beat Grange 125 (Toomey 33, Elmes not out 39; Cook seven for 29). Old Boys 153 and 65 for six, declared (Howden three for 25, Henderson three for 31) beat University 95 (Dickinson four for 31, Groves five for 27), and 88 for two (Uttley not out 45). SHEFFIELD SHIELD ADELAIDE, March 13. In the Sheffield Shield match to-day, Victoria, in its first innings, made 213 (Lee 109 not out). Bowling for South Australia, Waite took four wickets for 85, Grimmett three for 52, and Williams two for 46. South Australia in its second innings made 79 (A. Ryan, top scorer, 19, Bradman 8, Badcock 0). Bowling for Victoria, McCormick went through the South Australians and finished with nine wickets for 40. The New South Wales Association football team to-day defeated the English cricketers by seven goals to two. At half-time the score was: New South Wales 5, England 1. The Englishmen at times played high-class football. Fishlock was the dominating figure on his side, ■with his footwork and well-executed placements. On many occasions he made fine openings for his team-mates. Allen -was an able assistant for Hammond on the right flank, but the pace was too hot, and Allen was unable to stay the distance.
