FIXATION PROCEDURE.
[BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] (Reed. March 15. p.ip.) RUGBY,'March 13. The control of aircraft prices, in connection with the Royal Air Force expansion programme, is dealt, with by ‘Sir Gilbert Upcott (Comptroller and Auditor-General) in his report on the air services’ appropriationaccount for the year ended March 31 last.- \ The report says thatfihe Air Ministry has now agreed .with firms, onthe procedure for fixihgtfihal prices-; particularly in. types of aeroplanes, undeb which earlier deliveries of contracts will be paid for the actual. ..cost,, plussnnha.greed rate of profit, not less than 5 per cent. If sufficient information has then been obtained as to the trend of manufacturing costs, a fixed price will be agreed upon for the remainder of the contract. Where this is not possiblie, the price will be based on the actual cost, in a manner designed to control the rate of profit, and also to give an incentive to economy. The agreement provided that the Air Ministry shall have full access to the firm’s books and..cost records.
